Howard Stern has interviewed some big names on his morning satellite radio show in recent months, including Martin Scorcese, Paul McCartney and Ron Howard. On Tuesday morning’s Howard Stern Show broadcast, Howard Stern gave his audience a break from the pressure of listening to a big name star and allowed a virtual unknown to enter into the Kingdom of All Media: comedian Craig Gass.
Craig Gass fit in with the Howard Stern Show crew right away. As it turns out, “no-name” guests like Craig Gass make for pretty good radio. Craig Gass talked to The Howard Stern Show about his stand-up comedy career, the time he spent living in Eddie van Halen’s guest house, watching Norm MacDonald call Michael Jackson a child molester at a Michael Jackson concert, and the time that he himself did an obscene set of roast jokes about Tommy Lee in front of a full church choir.
Craig Gass also performed dead-on impressions of Nicholas Cage, Christopher Walken and Sam Kinison. No doubt, Craig Gass is a talented guy. Maybe even talented enough to make some listeners nervous that he’s auditioning for a spot on the show in case a certain perpetual-substance-abuser-drunk-driver-Joe-Buck-Live-steamroller doesn’t make it through the summer without another DUI.
Let’s hope not. Craig Gass is funny—really funny. But let’s face it. He’s no Artie Lange.
